Tribal Homeland Security Grants Announced-$6 million available nationwide

The Department of Homeland Security has announced a May 4, 2012 deadline for its FY2012 Tribal Homeland Security Grant Program (THSGP). SparrowHawk has helped one tribal client secure over $1 million in the course of two THSGP applications and at a very reasonable cost. Tribes should take note of the following language from the announcement: “Pre-award costs are allowable only with the written consent of DHS and if they are included in the award agreement.” Some grant preparers will offer to charge a percentage of the grant. Tribes that agree to those terms may find themselves having to repay all of that amount back to the government as an unallowable cost.
